2. John HOUSTON (John¹) was born about 1690 in Ireland, died about 1754 in Timber Ridge, Rockbridge Co. VA about age 64, and was buried in New Providence Cemetery, Rockbridge County, VA.

John married Margaret Mary CUNNINGHAM, daughter of James CUNNINGHAM and MARGARET. Margaret was born in Ireland and was buried in New Providence Cemetery, Rockbridge County, VA.

Children from this marriage were:

+ 3 M    i. Robert HOUSTON was born in 1720 in Ireland, died in Timber Ridge, Rockbridge County, VA., and was buried in Blue Ball Cemetery, Rockbridge County, Virginia.

   4 M    ii. James HOUSTON died in Ireland.

+ 5 F    iii. Isabella HOUSTON was born in 1722 in Ireland and died in 1785 at age 63.

   6 F    iv. Esther HOUSTON

Esther married John MONTGOMERY.

   7 M    v. John HOUSTON was born in 1726 and died in 1798 at age 72.

John married Sarah TODD, daughter of Samuel TODD and Ann HOUSTON. Sarah died in 1795.

   8 M    vi. Samuel HOUSTON was born about 1728 and died about 1797 about age 69.

Samuel married Elizabeth MSCROSKEY.

+ 9 M    vii. Matthew HOUSTON was born about 1730 in Ireland and died in 1774 about age 44.
